The Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia in 1981

Morgan and Berkeley Counties are to the west of I-81 and Martinsburg; Opequon Creek and Jefferson County are to the east.  Across the Potomac is Frederick, Maryland and the (uncaptioned) Monocacy River, from which the Hedgeses and (some) Van Metres came.  North of the Pennsylvania state line is Gettysburg; further north lies Cumberland County PA,
home of the Dixons.  Beyond this map's northeastern corner are Hanover and York, and the Pennsylvania Dutch country of the Snyders, W(e)ikels, and Upps.
